Baby beets from HH3

Farm Update

All the time we've been spending in the greenhouse on seeding and potting up is certainly paying off now and wow, do we ever have a lot to transplant.  All our perrenial herbs, celery, celeriac, onions, more tomatoes, zucchini, and regular lettuce/herbs are ready to go right now.  Marcelino has been spending a lot of time on the tractor prepping spaces for them all. We have extras too, so we decided to start bringing some early live herbs to market.

We're also enjoying the first harvest from lots of our spring plantings.  The hakurei and beets started last week, and the baby beets (pictured above) won't be baby sized much longer.  If you have these, definitely use the greens, they're awesome right now.

Other fun things from last week include a turtle we found crossing the driveway.  We don't often see them, but welcome these signs of wildlife especially since we have a few ponds.  We can actually use the photos for our organic certification too, in a section where we submit proof that we enable biodiversity on the farm.  We'll add it to our album of frogs, toads and salamanders.  If only we could keep the deer away...

Check out our Plant Sale!  We will accept orders until next week but get your order in now to avoid missing out on varieties!

FARM STORE NOTES:

Things to Note from us: Lettuce, arugula, basil, cucumbers, hakurei, radishes, dill, and cilantro are from our hoophouses. From the field we have spinach, thyme, mint, and the last of spring kale.  Make sure to enjoy our sweet winter carrots and other root veggies while we still have some left.

From our suppliers: Sweet potatoes and rhubarb from HOPE Ecofarms.  Through Pfennings: cabbage and potatoes. Additionally, mushrooms and organic fuji or ambrosia apples. Travelling from further away: lemons, limes, mandarins, oranges, ginger, turmeric.

Artisan Bakery is available this week. Seth is back this week.  Milk, yogurt and curds are available from Mistyglen this week. Yogurt is now available in 700ml jars.  Please note: The team at the creamery has asked us to remind folks that jars/bottles need to be clean when they are returned.  Dirty containers makes for an unpleasant job that takes a long time and sometimes bottles have to be discarded.

From Booch in London we have Fire Cider and kombucha mixed packs. Sunflower and hemp oil from Mat's Fine Oils are back in stock.

T-shirts: we have a new T-shirt design, check it out!
