Farm Update

It’s our last week of regular production this year!  Thank you, thank you, thank you from everyone on our team for your support and appreciation this season.  We love growing food for our community and we can’t do that without your belief in what we do.  As farmers, it is really special to connect directly with the people who use our veggies so thank you for all the garden updates, questions, feedback, recipes and stories.  We love connecting with you through our shared belief in good food.

This week we are finishing up a few things to make sure we are ready for the rest of the winter.  We prepare, but the list is so long it seems to take ages to be ‘ready’ for winter and sometimes it takes a good freeze like we had last week to make you realize what you forgot to do!  So, we are taking advantage of this brief thaw to dig some more parsnips and clean up tarps we missed before they freeze to the ground again.

Special thanks goes to Jorge, who headed home this week.  It was another fantastic season with him on the team, and one where we needed to lean on his experience a lot.  Thank you for all your work and for being ready for anything.  We will be missing his DJing abilities this winter!

Our winter subscriptions and weekly orders resume on January 6th, but we still have a few markets in the interim:

FARM STORE NOTES

Things to note from us: We've added 1lb bags of our garlic to the store.  These are best stored in a dark, cool, dry place like a cupboard (refrigerators tend to be too high in moisture).

Root roast packs are back!  This is a mix of root veggies that we have available right now.  Great for roasting, soups and stews.

From the field and storage we have leek, beets, carrots, parsnips, root parsley, cabbages, napa, kale, turnips, kohlrabi, celeriac, radish, greens, and herbs.  From greenhouses and hoophouses: swiss chard, herbs, greens.
