Farm Update

Welcome to the first week of main-season CSA!  As far as our crop plan goes, you will see a similar range of vegetables, both familiar favourites full of CGF flavour and unique baskets of different shapes and colours.  We are trialing a few new varieties this year though most of the changes are supposed to improve disease-resistance and provide more reliable crops, of course we also added a few new fun tomatoes.

Things are moving fast on the farm right now.  On Friday our incredible team transplanted about 6500 plants, packed orders, and prepared for market.  In the next weeks we will continue to add to our fields every chance we get, though it seems like we may have more regular opportunities going forward.

That's wonderful because as our plant sale approaches and seedlings are potted-up into larger containers, we don't have a lot of extra space!  Next up for this week is turning over some of Hoophouse 3 for early celery.

Check out our Plant Sale!  It's live now and has lots of variety to pre-order from.

FARM STORE NOTES:

Things to Note from us: Lettuce, arugula, basil, cucumbers, hakurei, radishes, dill, and cilantro are from our hoophouses. From the field we have spinach, thyme, and the last of spring kale.  Make sure to enjoy our sweet winter carrots and other root veggies while we still have some left.

From our suppliers: Sweet potatoes from HOPE Ecofarms.  Through Pfennings: cabbage and potatoes, and beets. Additionally, mushrooms and organic fuji or ambrosia apples. Travelling from further away: lemons, limes, mandarins, oranges, ginger, turmeric.

Artisan Bakery is available this week. Seth returns next week.  Milk, yogurt and curds are available from Mistyglen this week. Yogurt is now available in 700ml jars.  Please note: The team at the creamery has asked us to remind folks that jars/bottles need to be clean when they are returned.  Dirty containers makes for an unpleasant job that takes a long time and sometimes bottles have to be discarded.

From Booch in London we have Fire Cider and kombucha mixed packs. Sunflower and hemp oil from Mat's Fine Oils are back in stock.
