Farm Update
We said goodbye to the last of our summer students today! Every year these workers bring fresh energy to the crew right after the Spring’s planting and seeding marathon. Not only are we relieved to have the additional help, but the summer crew is always fun to work with. We felt very lucky this year to welcome back familiar faces, so the crew easily fell into a good rhythm from the get-go.
Lance, Janessa, Raine, Zach, Max, Ayla, Helena, Nolan and Sadie
THANK YOU for all your hard work this summer!
In addition to school starting, it certainly feels like the fall these days. We’re glad that it seems our fall storage crops will have easier growing conditions than than the harsh hot and dry weather our summer crops had. Our large pond is nearly empty, so the more regular rain is also a huge relief.
We are still relying heavily on our waterwheel transplanter to help us plant the last few successions into the field without using sprinklers. After today there will only be one more field planting before lettuce will be moving into caterpillar tunnels.

The purslane has been intense this year since the summer was so hot and dry. Luckily, they make great hats!

Atlas
February 2021 - August 28th 2025
With heavy hearts the farm said goodbye to Atlas last Thursday. Many will know her as friendly greeter to everyone who visited the farm. Sadly she got cancer fairly young but had the best life a dog could have while she was with us. She will be greatly missed!
